About Dayton’s Storytelling
Everyone loves a story. But have you listened to stories with layer upon layer of meaning? Ones that you understand when you are six, and others that you understand when you are 60? This is the essence of Native American Storytelling. And the meaning of the story? You are left to discover it on your own. How magical!
Story brings us to life. It stirs our imaginations, allows us to glimpse other realities, deepens our connections, and can even open our hearts.
Dayton Dianho Edmonds is one such extraordinary storyteller. Born into a Caddo-Chickasaw heritage rich in music, dance, art and storytelling, Dayton was immersed in culture even before birth, and began storytelling when he was 6 years old.
Dayton Edmonds transports you to a world of imagination and intrigue. His whole being weaves their enchanting tale. Hands born to sign language gesture in concert with the landscape of facial expression. You’ve heard of physical comedians? Well, he is a physical storyteller. His whole body is engaged in the creation. These stories are often sung to life accompanied by flute or guitar. Then young or old, he will delight you with puppetry, and impressions of the natural world.
Now, Dayton is a lover of ghost stories….oh, not your usual campfire ghost stories. These are real spine tinglers and mind benders that he loves to tell. Young or old, if you are lucky enough to be at one of his campfires, you will be looking behind you all the way home. He is always careful of course, to adjust the stories and their content when young listeners are present. And to the delight of us all, a DVD of Dayton’s Ghost Stories is soon to be released…so, stay tuned if you too are a lover of spine-tingling tales.
